Happy Diwali with Chocolate Fudge

Diwali or Deepavali is a time when most of us do not mind a bit of excess – be it in decorating our homes with ‘diyas’ or dressing up in our best. When it comes to food, most homes across India prepare traditional sweets or mithai and everyone digs in with gusto. Over the years however, with changing tastes and palates, the traditional sweet is taking on a modern avatar. Here is one such delight. A simple, easy to do recipe of Chocolate Fudge. Chocolate Fudge

 Ingredients

Dark or Plain Chocolate (chopped) 500 gm

Condensed Milk 400 gm

Unsalted Butter 40 gm

Salt a pinch

Vanilla Essence ½ tsp

Nuts, coarsely chopped (optional)

Method

  • 1. Put the chopped chocolate, condensed milk, butter and salt in a heavy bottom saucepan on low heat and let it melt while stirring continuously. Do not let it boil.

2. Once melted remove from heat and mix in vanilla essence and chopped nuts. Stir well.

3. Grease a 10 inch square cake tin or mould and pour the mixture into it.

4. Let the fudge cool and then refrigerate it until set. You can then cut it in squares to serve.
